  • Elevate Systems Honored on Capitol Hill UTSA Small Business Development Center

    The America’s SBDC Texas Network, the state’s principal provider of business assistance, is pleased to announce that Elevate Systems, an emerging San Antonio-based LLC, was recognized among 11 SBDC clients representing ten states at the America’s SBDC Client Showcase and Reception in Washington, D.C. Elevate Systems, a client of the Texas SBDC at the University of Texas San Antonio South-West Texas Border Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, was honored February 1, 2016 on Capitol Hill. Elevate Systems was founded by Scott and Maricela Gray in December of 2012. The company provides technical solutions for military weapons systems, 3D design, prototyping and production, and technical consulting. They are proud to provide services to reverse engineer difficult to acquire parts, and support military applications for weapon systems obsolescence issues, automotive applications,

  • Small Business Development Centers ready to launch in Honduras

    (July 27, 2012) On July 27, 2012 a graduation ceremony was held at the Casa Presidencial of Honduras, and was presided over by Vice President of Honduras Ma. Antonietta de Guillen. One hundred and thirty certificates were awarded to new Small Business Development Center (SBDC) professionals who will be involved in building the network of SBDC’s to grow small business and trade in this Central American nation. The University of Texas at San Antonio International Trade Center Director Cliff Paredes, and his team delivered a four-month SBDC Diplomado training program to transfer the SBDC model. Honduras Secretary of Industry and Commerce announced the establishment of the first two pilot SBDC’s in Golfo de Fonseca and Olancho regions.   • UTSA IED Honored with Small Business Advocate of the Year Award

    (July 18, 2012) The UTSA Institute for Economic Development received the inaugural Small Business Advocate of the Year award at the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Small Business Leaders Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, July 18. The luncheon was created to recognize outstanding achievements in business endeavors and share their stories with the community. A total of eight awards were presented, seven to local businesses and one to the UTSA IED for its continued partnership and exemplary service to local small businesses. Five out of the seven award recipients were current clients of the UTSA IED, or had utilized services during their business venture. According to event chair Marilyn Hartman, “Small business is where the innovations take place. They are swifter, more flexible and often more daring than big businesses.
