Silvia Cano gets Quarterly Staff Excellence Award At our quarterly UTSA departmental meeting up at the Main Campus, one of our very own (and very best) was honored with an Excellence Award (and the other great part is that the announcement of the award was a total surprise to her)!  Silvia Cano is pictured below with (right) Rod McSherry/AVP of our Institute for Economic Development, and (left) Dr. Bernard Arulanandam/VP of Research, Economic Development, and Knowledge Enterprise at UTSA. Discussion will include perspectives on trends and lessons learned, focusing on labor market and workforce development, employers and business operations, and policy considerations will be shared. Feb 14 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | CST | In person UTSA SBDC in coordination with UTSA’s Westside Community Center, the SBA, Prosper West San Antonio and PeopleFund, are holding an event for small businesses, even if they haven’t started, at the UTSA Westside Community Center on February 14th. Attendees can receive assistance with SBA lending, startup assistance, federal contracting,  small business counseling, all other SBA Programs. No appointment is necessary to attend. Financial analysis program enables UTSA students to support local businesses

Financial analysis program enables UTSA students to support local businesses The University of Texas at San Antonio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Carlos Alvarez College of Business (C0B) are collaborating on a program to benefit firms and UTSA’s business school students. Known as Financial Analysis by Student Teams (FAST), this project allows area small business owners and students taking Financial Modeling to work together to analyze real-world business challenges. Now in its third iteration, the collaboration is led by SBDC Assistant Director Ruben S. Lopez and Brian Wolfe, assistant professor in the COB’s Department of Finance. Their program offers small business owners financial analysis to help them make decisions.
