  • Following renovation, UTSA reopens New Braunfels SBDC office with ribbon cutting and open house

    UTSA SBDC Satellite Office offers training and services to help entrepreneurs thrive   SAN ANTONIO, May 11, 2017 — The UTSA Small Business Development Center (UTSA SBDC) Satellite Office in New Braunfels is reopening its doors for business after undergoing a major renovation to better serve the community. The Satellite Office operated out of a temporary location for two months. For six years, the UTSA SBDC has proven to be a valuable asset by providing workshops and professional, confidential business advising services to the business community. The UTSA SBDC strengthens the Comal and Guadalupe county economies by offering local entrepreneurs with education, mentorship, business training and networking services. Since 2012, the UTSA SBDC has provided more than 10,600 hours of advising to 1,855 clients, resulting in 86 business starts, 87

      UTSA Small Business Development Center pilots webinar series to increase access to industry experts   SAN ANTONIO, (May 12, 2017) – In an effort to increase access to small business development trainings for clients of Texas Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), the South-West Texas Border SBDC Network is launching a webinar series called #SBDCStream from its lead center at The University of Texas at San Antonio.     • Access to Capital is Chief Concern for Small Business Owners, According to New Poll

      Research results will be used to shape services and address changing needs of small businesses. SAN ANTONIO, May 3, 2016 – A poll conducted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in partnership with the Small Business Development Centers of Texas, including the UTSA South-West Texas Border SBDC Network, found that for the first time, access to capital is the greatest challenge facing small-business owners in Texas. While still a critical issue, finding talent fell to second place, garnering 20.4 percent of responses. Sales and marketing was once again the most sought-after skill for potential employees, followed by interpersonal skills. This third annual Small Business Assessment Poll was conducted during the last three months of 2016 and included responses from 1,358 small business owners from 101 counties across Texas. Overall,

      In 35 years, America’s Small Business Development Center has grown from a small pilot program to a nationwide business education and training infrastructure with nearly 1,000 centers throughout the nation providing management and technical assistance to over a million Americans annually.
